Terms of Service

These terms are a contract between you and Legal Risk Scanner ((set COMPANY_ADDRESS to your postal address)) covering your use of Legal Risk Scanner (the "Service"). By creating an account or making a purchase you agree to them.
1. Not legal advice
The Service is an automated tool that compares publicly accessible web pages and email templates against a fixed set of rules. Its output is information, not legal advice, and using it does not create an attorney-client relationship. It can miss issues and can flag things that are acceptable in your situation. Penalty figures are statutory maximums or reported outcomes, not predictions. You are responsible for deciding what to do with the results and should consult a qualified lawyer.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract. Keep your password confidential; you are responsible for activity under your account. You may only add sites to monitoring that you own or are authorised to monitor, and you must complete our ownership verification before recurring scans run.
3. Acceptable use
Do not use the Service to scan sites in a way that violates their terms or the law, to overload any site, to harvest data, or to attempt to access non-public pages. Do not reverse-engineer, resell or scrape the Service. We may rate-limit, suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the Service.
4. Purchases
Full report ($49, one-time). A single payment unlocks the full report (evidence, fixes, code, prompts and PDF) for every scan on your account. It does not renew.
Monitoring subscription ($19 per month)
The monitoring plan is billed $19 when you subscribe and then automatically every month on the same calendar date until you cancel. It includes everything in the full report, a monthly automatic re-scan of each verified site on your account, and email alerts about new or resolved findings. You can cancel at any time from your dashboard (Manage billing); cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and you keep access until then. We do not refund partial months. Before any price change we will notify you by email at least 30 days in advance and you may cancel before it takes effect. Renewal terms are also shown next to every subscribe button.
Payments are processed by our payment provider. Taxes may be added where required. Refund requests for the one-time report within 14 days of purchase are honoured if you have not downloaded the PDF.
5. Intellectual property
We own the Service and its content. Reports generated for you may be used internally and shared with your advisers. Code snippets in reports are provided under the MIT licence.
6. Copyright complaints and repeat infringers
If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, follow the process on our DMCA page. We terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will find every legal risk or that following its suggestions will make you compliant.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Legal Risk Scanner will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, in which case they apply to the maximum extent permitted.
9. Termination
You may close your account at any time by emailing us. We may suspend or terminate the Service for breach of these terms. Sections 1, 5, 7, 8 and 10 survive termination.
10. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, unless mandatory consumer law in your country of residence provides otherwise. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Delaware, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any competent court.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. We will post the new version here, update the date above, and notify account holders by email of material changes at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date is acceptance.
